Default The Contrvercy: Is what we seek in Religion?

To me religion is something that keeps changing so I guess it is in the readers perspective of the word. For me I find that I prefer to use the word Spitituality. However, this word can also mean may differant things. It is no secret that I am a born again Christian. If any of you missed that I am not doing what I am put here for. But at the same time.... I am not one that believes in forcing what I believe on someone. I like to share what the good Lord has done for me and if that is appealing to someone else I feel I have fulfilled my dutie here. I am currious though, what is your take on religion? Does religion really fallow the Holly Scriptures? Does you Bible really teach the true Gospel, the GOOD news? Do you think the Holy Bible has been altered? I have been reading a book that claims that many of the so called "New" translations have been altered to be softer and allow for missinturpitation of the good news. So far I am not sure what to make of this book but would like some imput on it. It is called "New Age Bible Versions" by G. A. Riplinger. I have been told the author is contraversial yet I know nothing of their work. So far there have been several parrallels drawn between the NIV and such bibles with the "New Age" bibles. Quite fankly this if true is a little alarming to me. I am not a "New Age" believer. For years now I have subscribed to the "Authorised King James" version although I do own several bibles to compair things with. Well anyway, I would like some feed back and where better to turn than here where we can have an open discusion without flaiming anyone.

For me it's plain and simple... I live by the rule that the most important thing is your personal relationship with our Father. He has always been for me through EVERTHING. It is what it is.
Peace.

Thank you Sean. I always enjoy your input. In fact, you might say I was counting on it. The book I am reading, my Mom had sent to me. The paralells they draw between the "new" translations and the "New Age" Bibles are alarming to me. I can see how things could be twisted into someting that isn't there. I am hoping this thread will allow for some discussion that will help keep our faith strong and on the correct track. Hopefully this will also be of bennifit to others as well. There are alot of religious beliefes that do not fallow clearly with the scripture. Some I would have to leap a long ways out there for. Like today, I have a weekly bible study here that is rather interesting ... it is not mine alone but others who attend have beliefs that I don't hold myself. I am still willing to discuss these at length with them though. We discuss the differances in inturpatation at times to great length. Other times I let them go as I am not prepaired to adiquitly debate the issue at hand. Still I am thankfull that I have the oppertunity to discus the good news and plant seeds. I also learn things which is good. I just have to recheck things for my own sanity. Well, I am kind of just rambling here so I will go for now.

God Bless and Keep you all,
Michael
