I'm going to have to retire from the USAF in a few years, not exactly sure where I want to end up at. Hawaii is gorgeous, but very expensive, and has it own set of problems. How is life in Spokane? Houses look reasonable. Have not looked into the job market yet, I have my Paramedic. I am not sure I want to keep doing medical forever. I like the excitement, but working the streets in a young man's game! I can still do it now, I just do not know about 10-15 years plus from now

Ed,
I've not lived in Spokane since I left in 1989. However, I do get back there several times a year and remember why I left ![]() My younger brother moved back and he and his wife bought a "fixer-upper" several years ago and it's now pretty nice. He had a job at the same place for about 8 years and with all the cutbacks in our booming economy got "downsized" and he has now been looking for work and not finding any for almost 6 months. With your education and experience I'm sure you'll have much better luck than my brother, though. I guess what I'm saying is that just like everywhere, you should probably simply weigh the pro's and con's and live where you'll be most happy - whether your #1 choice is to be near family and friends or if it's the money.... for me, I'm moving from someplace I love to be where I can find work -- and I'm hoping I'm not making the wrong choice guess I'll find out soon enough!Congrats on your retirement! Since I just now graduated, I have about 25 more years to go -- YUK! lol |

LOL, Have not retired yet, just getting a plan. I'll prob hang in with the USAF for another few years. I am finishing up a B.S. in Health Science now, might go on for a Master's before I get out. Not exactly sure. The VA hospitals like to hire people with my background for case manager work, a degree would really help though. I've been taking classes for years, just never firmed anything up. I actually only need 6 to graduate, so I'll knock that out.
![]() I've been looking on the realty pages, I guess maybe living in Hawaii has jaded me, but all the houses look sorta dumpy LOL. Has anyone gotten on Google streetview? They have lots of Spokane mapped out. You can click right down the roads like you are driving them. My old house is there, and you can go down past Rogers too. ![]() |
