Hi everyone! I'm here to start some thought-provoking threads!
After getting all emotional and nostalgic during and after the reunion weekend, I've been thinking hard about what I miss about living in 1987, being 17, graduating high school with my entire future just ready to happen. Don't get me wrong; life is pretty good right now; but there's so much that was good at that time, too. So for me, the biggest thing I miss is my dad, he died 10 years ago, September 13th. I also miss seeing my best girlfriends every single day. I miss being able to dine on anything of my choosing without thinking of any consequences because I was a teenager and ran so many miles (remember those Taco Time nacho plates with a Big Juan of Dr. Pepper??? ) and it just never crossed my mind that I should care! I miss seeking out suntans without SPF 50 and large hats to shield myself from skin cancer. I miss the feeling of truly believing that I could do absolutely anything at all in the world if I set my mind to it. So, if anyone is willing to share, what do you miss about that time in your life??? Anyone?? |

Great Thread Tonya!
![]() Like I've said before, I made the mistake of not doing much to be missed. Which is what I miss most. I miss the lack of consequences (much you were saying). I'd have played so much more. I miss just going out to do whatever with your friends and not "knowing there was a boatload of stuff you needed to get done". You just went out and relaxed, laughed, and had a good time. Or blowing your paycheck ($3.35 an Hour!!! LOL Remember that?! ) on a night out with your buddies and not caring, cause, "Hey, its only money. I'll get another check next week, right?" And I miss going to one big building with ALL your friends in one convenient spot. ![]() |

I miss the ability to just go and have fun. No worries other than who to get together with on the weekend. Having summers and Christmas break was also wonderful.
I seem to remember having all the time in the world to do what I want and now I struggle to find the time between all of my activities just to relax. Don't get me wrong I love everything I am involved in right now but sometimes it is overwhelming trying to keep up. It is funny that my step-kids were always saying that it was really tough and that life is chaotic but now that they are adults they wish they could go back to the easy way of life. ![]()

I have to be honest and say that I don't really miss much about high school for the same reasons Wade mentioned, and I regret that. I was VERY shy and afraid of doing anything, talking to anyone, etc. I really wish I would have done more and just enjoyed life more. After I graduated I kind of burst out of my shell a little bit and started living and enjoying life.
I really wish I would have paid attention in class more! I wish I was a better student. I guess I was a typical teenager ![]() |

I miss high school the most hanging out with my friends, being a typical teenager no pressures or responsiblities but to have fun. Care free days.. There is a lot of things I would do over again and things that I would change relationships I would have kept closer to me. But hey maybe we all have a 2nd chance to be friends again and keep in touch that is the best thing at this time.

Like everyone else I miss having easy access to friends and knowing you would probably see them everyday. I also miss those that are not with us anymore. If I could go back and change that I would do it in a heart beat.
I also wish I had been a better student, while I passed all my classes I was really only at school for one thing and that was socializing. My son just went to his first Homecoming and boy did that bring back some memories...lol.. While there are things I miss about High School there are things I don't miss and for now I am enjoying where I am in life. |

![]() I miss some of the great teachers we had that are no longer with us like Mr. Knight and Mr. Raymond. I miss my friends whom I've lost touch with and haven't seen in 20 years. As far as regrets, I also regret being shy in HS. If I could only go back 22 years and give myself advice.... |

Honestly, when I think about it, I wish more than I miss. Like, I wish I could have not done some things I did, and I wish I would have done some other things.
I honestly wish I never got introduced to pot. It took years of prayer to regain a lot of memories I thought I had lost from its use. I wish I never was a partier, because in 1989 when I became a Christian I realized that there was a lot I had missed out on in HS due to the drugs and alcohol scene. It is proabaly partly why I work in education-to help kids not do what I did. I wish I would have focused more on computers and spent my $3.35 per hour check on microsoft stocks (hahaha!!!!) I miss the dances. There was something special about those nights, especialy the ones where I was not either high or drunk. I do miss the stage. I loved acting and there didn't seem to be enough "play" time. I can't say I miss my friends because thanks to this and other means of communication I have been reunited with so many of my friends ... and I am making new ones ![]()

Well listen up everyone. This is where I take this opportunity to tell everyone what I don't miss. I don't miss the person I was in highschool. I was simply...an a#@hole. I hurt alot of people and said alot of mean things. I bullied, stole, used, betrayed, the list goes on. I created my own exile. For those of you who know what I'm saying then hey, cut me some slack, I was just a snot nosed kid. I'm sorry if any one of you out there felt like you had been in my line of fire. *Takes a deep breath*
See that wasn't so bad... I feel better. Do you? Now for what I do miss. The short list of friends I had that knew me and didn't judge me and put up with my crap. Eatin' pizza and burritos from "Richies", or wondering to Taco johns'. Mrs. Carpenter who talked sense into me enough to do my schoolwork and Graduate, Shivesen, And I'll never forget Eagleweekend. Peace, God Bless...Sean Last edited by Sean Mize : 10-31-2007 at 07:49 PM. |
