Good day to all you Rogers Alumni who visit this sight frequently. Seem's like there is not much going on out there so I thought I'd be the first to catch up with anyone who stop's by. Usually we can all rely on Michael for keeping the chit chat going but even he must be preoccupied for we ain't seen hide nor hare from him either. So my first question is: Where the heck did all this damned snow come from? I have lived in Spokaloo all my life (except for the 4 years I was in the Navy) and I have never seen it snow like this especially on Spring Break. If we have some Global warming going on then it obviously has to be doing it somewhere else. Don't get me wrong - I like snow just fine, just not in April. Lol. I hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble. Hopefully we will get into some warmer weather soon for it should be time to get out the suntan lotion and do some camping. Sounds like a great idea to me that's for sure. Well everyone, stay safe and God Bless...The Mizes†

Being incredibly lazy here, but... this is where I've been and what I've been up to.
A fish out of water? - After Seppuku That thread is on my other forum. I've been taking, well... let's just say a few dance lessons lately. Not really my thing EVER until recently. Seems to have had quite the impact on my life though. ![]() |

Hey everyone! Sean, I agree. I am so ready for Spring. I don't ever remember winters being like this growing up here. It kind of seems like most of the country is experiencing this. It's truly insane. I'm surprised I haven't GONE insane. I moved back up here from California two and a half years ago and the past few winters have been really difficult for me to get used to. This winter, for some odd reason, hasn't been too bad, though. Even with the crazy snow. I keep telling myself that it HAS to go away at some point. I mean, Spring has to come. That's just the way it all works, you know? Spring comes after winter. So it will come. (and it looks like it is. This weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. yay!)
Wade talked about venturing into new things and I suppose I've been doing the same and it's been helping. I've been learning about Zen and meditation and it has really helped me get through this long winter. Just focusing on the here and now and realizing that all is just fine. |

Hi Michael,
Sure! It is a philosophy that comes out of the Buddhist tradition. The philosophy focuses on mindfulness on the present, and finding truth within instead of without (from religious texts, for example). This is where meditation comes in. Here is the wikipedia entry if you want more info. I find the history of Zen fascinating! I love how it changes and evolves as it passes through each country through time. Like I said, I am still new and I'm not sure I buy into all of it yet but I am really enjoying learning about it! |
